As such, this knee-jerk reaction would not only do nothing to address the spread of the disease but would potentially impede future ***ernment-run vaccination programmes by damaging public trust in the authorities – would you register your dog as vaccinated with the same authority that is known to carry out indiscriminate and inhumane culling?‘‘<BR>She addedBR>‘‘WSPA is calling on the Chinese Government to intervene and stop this second misguided cull in Jining City, Shandon Province, and instead follow WHO guidelines. Other cities in China have shown themselves to be progressive by abandoning ‘catch-and-kill’ methods and reducing registration fees to promote responsible pet ownership and vaccination, for example Beijing.‘‘<BR>WSPA currently supports several projects, including ones in Sierra Leone, Zanzibar, India and Sri Lanka, that combine mass vaccination with dog population control as a humane and effective way of controlling rabies and stray dog numbers.
